What even is self care? .. I’m dying to know.
Recently I finished my masters and became a qualified dramatherapist. I can tell you, after months of therapy, confronting my shadow and all the parts of myself and moments in my life which I never even knew existed, I learnt to despise the words “look after yourself”. – There are some moments that I just don’t know how.
We can all say, “I’m practising self-care” but are we really?
There’s a fine line between self care and self sabotage, but it feels great to be under the illusion that you’re in that ivory tower of self love for a moment.
Because I learnt that self care isn’t in the single acts that we do ie – lighting a candle, reading a book, journaling – far from it. It’s in the real honesty and connection you have with yourself. – What do I really need, right now. What does my body need?
… I’m still figuring it out.
